It's constructed from boiled wool, or 'vadmal,' a densely felted fabric known for its remarkable wind and water resistance without the need for synthetic membranes. The material itself is inherently warm, even when damp, a critical attribute for sustained activity in a cold, wet environment. Its construction is straightforward and robust, with double layers of vadmal over the shoulders and upper back, areas prone to wear and tear from pack straps or increased exposure.
