The Kayland Stellar GTX is a dedicated technical mountaineering boot, clearly designed for the sharper end of winter and high-alpine climbing. The ankle cuff offers good support without being overly restrictive, which is a common complaint with some fully rigid boots, allowing for a more natural climbing motion. We've found the Gore-Tex insulation to be effective in keeping feet warm in typical winter conditions, though in extreme cold or prolonged static periods, a double boot would still be the preference.
