Pro Brush Pant

The KUIU Pro Brush Pant is purpose-built for hunters who spend serious time pushing through dense cover. Constructed primarily from KUIU's Primeflex 125 fabric, it offers a good balance of durability and stretch. The main protection comes from a CORDURA nylon ripstop overlay on the front of the legs and the rear seat, which is crucial for busting through thorny thickets and abrasive terrain without tearing. While this adds significant abrasion resistance, it does make the pant noticeably stiffer and heavier than their non-brush specific models, so don't expect ultralight flexibility.

In the field, these pants hold up to their name. I've worn them in everything from Pacific Northwest blackberry patches to New Mexico pinon-juniper, and they shrug off snags and thorns reliably. The DWR treatment is effective for light rain and dewy mornings, but prolonged exposure will eventually soak through the non-laminated sections. The articulated knees and gusseted crotch provide enough mobility for climbing and steep ascents, though the overlay material inherently limits extreme range of motion compared to a pure stretch pant. Ventilation is handled by zippered thigh vents, a welcome feature given the pant's robust build and the often warm conditions encountered when busting brush.

Given its specialized construction, the Pro Brush Pant sits at the premium end for its category. It's an investment, but one that pays off in longevity and performance for those who regularly hunt in harsh environments where torn pants are a constant issue. It’s certainly not a lightweight backcountry pant for high-mileage, open-country pursuits, but for tough field hunting and brush work where durability is paramount, it’s a strong contender against other heavy-duty hunting pants on the market.
