The Millet Everest Summit GTX has been a benchmark for high-altitude mountaineering boots for a long time, and the current iteration continues that legacy. This is a serious double boot designed for serious cold and serious objectives. The outer boot uses a combination of Cordura and synthetic leather, with a robust Gore-Tex membrane providing waterproofing. The inner boot is a high-loft, insulated, heat-moldable design, crucial for warmth retention and custom fit. While the overall construction is burly, Millet has done a good job of keeping the weight down for its class, which is always a consideration when moving at altitude.

In the field, the Everest Summit GTX performs exactly as advertised: it keeps your feet warm and dry in extreme conditions. The stiff sole and ankle support are excellent for front-pointing and kicking steps in hard ice, making it reliable for technical sections. The integrated gaiter is well-designed, sealing out snow and ice effectively, and the T-Zip zipper is sturdy enough to withstand rough handling with gloves on. While certainly not a light boot, it’s competitive in its category for overall mass, and the walking comfort for such a rigid boot is surprisingly decent for approaches when necessary.

This boot is purpose-built for expeditions to the Greater Ranges, Arctic exploration, or any climb where sustained cold and technical terrain are the primary concerns. It stands firmly alongside other top-tier expedition boots from brands like Scarpa and La Sportiva, offering comparable warmth and technical performance. The durability is high, with robust materials and construction meant to withstand years of abuse, though like any boot, consistent care is essential to maximize its lifespan.
