However, its small size and thin profile mean it struggles significantly with hard-packed earth, rocky terrain, or roots; expecting it to perform like a full-sized trowel in such conditions is unrealistic. It’s a specialized tool for those who prioritize every gram and operate in environments where a small, sharp spade is sufficient. It’s not for general-purpose digging or for users who frequently encounter challenging soil conditions; for those, a more robust aluminum or steel trowel might be a better, albeit heavier, choice. This tool earns its place by being unobtrusive and perfectly adequate for its niche.
