The verdict

The standard 308 Pant is worth considering when movement and heat management matter more than built-in warmth. First Lite specifies 100% polyester with four-way stretch, a straight-leg 308 fit and mesh thigh vents. That makes it a different tool from the heavyweight Wool Tracker: an active-hunt pant to pair with insulation as conditions cool, rather than a wool cold-weather layer. Wild10 has not field-tested this model, so noise, long-term durability and individual fit remain questions to check rather than results we claim.

Key strengths

  • Manufacturer-specified four-way stretch for mobility
  • Mesh thigh zip vents offer adjustable heat release
  • Straight-leg 308 fit with a familiar five-pocket layout
  • Dedicated Folder Holder knife pocket and zippered thigh pocket

Watch out for

  • Not the insulated 308 Lined or heavyweight 308 Wool Tracker model
  • Does not replace waterproof rain pants in sustained rain
  • Standard model lacks the nylon brush chaps of the 308 Brush
  • Wild10 has not independently measured noise, drying time or abrasion resistance

Best for

  • Active early-season archery and scouting with frequent changes of pace
  • Hunters who prefer a straight-leg fit over a tapered mountain pant
  • A streamlined field pant that can accommodate appropriate base layers

What the standard 308 Pant is designed to do

First Lite positions the 308 as a mountain and field pant for year-round use through layering. Its core formula is simple: stretch polyester, a straight leg and adjustable thigh ventilation. There is no need to confuse that brief with an insulated pant or assign it an unsupported temperature rating.

For an active hunter, the appeal is controlling heat without switching pants midway through the day. Open vents on the climb and close them when stationary; choose base layers around the forecast and your activity level. This is a design assessment, not a claim based on wearing them in the field.

Four-way stretch and the 308 straight-leg fit

The manufacturer lists 100% polyester with four-way stretch. That fabric specification differs from nylon/spandex formulas used in some other hunting pants. First Lite describes its construction as silent; we have not verified that description through a noise comparison.

The straight-leg 308 Fit is important if you dislike a narrow lower leg. Before buying, compare your own waist, hip and inseam measurements with the current manufacturer chart and the specific Amazon variant. Do not assume that your jeans size or a Wool Tracker size guarantees the same fit.

Vents and pockets: useful details without a cargo-heavy layout

Mesh-backed thigh zip vents are the standout heat-management feature. They allow ventilation while retaining a mesh barrier, but should not be mistaken for waterproof closures. The comparison guide also lists a five-pocket design, a Folder Holder knife pocket and a zippered thigh pocket.

A compact pocket layout can suit hunters who keep most gear in a pack or chest harness. Those who carry a lot of bulky equipment in their pants should compare pocket access and capacity before ordering; we have not measured these pockets or tested access under a hip belt.

308 Pant versus 308 Wool Tracker, Brush and Lined

The shared 308 name describes a family, not one fabric. The standard pant is polyester with four-way stretch. First Lite lists the Wool Tracker as a heavyweight felted blend of 66% wool, 26% polyester, 5% acrylic and 3% nylon. The Tracker's materials and cold-weather role should not be attributed to this Amazon-linked standard model.

The 308 Brush adds nylon chap overlays for brush-oriented use; the 308 Lined uses a fleece-lined construction. If your main need is protection from dense cover or built-in warmth, compare those specific models rather than buying the standard 308 on the assumption it includes their features.

Weather protection and the limits of a year-round claim

Year-round versatility depends on layers and conditions. The standard 308 is not a replacement for dedicated insulation during long cold sits, and it is not a waterproof shell for sustained rain. Carry separate weather protection when your trip requires it.

We have not assigned a packed weight, fabric weight, waterproof rating or lower temperature limit because the sources reviewed do not establish those measurements for this model. For care and any water-repellent treatment, follow the garment label and current manufacturer instructions.

Buying checklist and review method

Confirm that the listing says Men's 308 Pant, select the intended waist and inseam, and check the chosen color and return terms. The supplied affiliate link opens an Amazon variant in Conifer; available selections may change. The pictured garment is the same standard model, not the Wool Tracker.

This review was researched from First Lite's product page and pant comparison guide on October 19, 2026. We did not receive a test sample or conduct a field test, and no customer star rating has been presented as Wild10's own score.

Common questions

Is this the Wool Tracker? No. This is the standard 100% polyester 308 Pant. Is it a warm insulated pant? Not by itself; First Lite describes adding base layers for colder conditions. Does it have thigh vents? Yes, the manufacturer lists mesh thigh zip vents.

Is the 308 waterproof? Treat it as a field pant, not waterproof rainwear. Which size should I order? Use the current sizing chart and check the exact waist/inseam option on Amazon; an individual fit guarantee is not possible from specifications alone.
