Kasilof River Sockeye Basecamp
Kasilof / western Kenai Peninsula
A second river system is useful when your trip dates or lodging favor Kasilof rather than Soldotna or Cooper Landing. ADF&G lists a broad June–August sockeye window, but that does not authorize every technique or access choice. This image shows sockeye in the Kenai River and is explicitly regional species context, not a photograph of the Kasilof or its boat launch. Use the Kasilof-specific access information and emergency orders to select a legal rod-and-line outing. Do not confuse sport fishing with the separate Alaska-resident personal-use dipnet fishery near the mouth. Confirm whether a guide supplies a launch/landing shuttle and how fish will be handled. King salmon exceptions are not blanket permission to target any king or retain a wild fish.

Seward Resurrection Bay Coho Charter
Seward / Resurrection Bay and North Gulf Coast
The marine option for travelers who want a Seward base and a salmon day alongside coastal scenery. ADF&G distinguishes coho timing inside Resurrection Bay from the outer North Gulf Coast. Book an operator for the appropriate area rather than treating all Seward salmon charters as interchangeable. The photo shows Bear Glacier in Resurrection Bay in 2021: coastal landscape context, not a charter boarding site or a fishing position. Ask whether the trip will stay inside the bay, travel outside it or change targets with conditions. Check the applicable saltwater rules and emergency orders; do not apply freshwater tackle rules to the ocean or assume legal saltwater snagging permits it in a river. Confirm life jackets, seasickness preparation, fish processing and the operator’s weather policy. October availability is not evidence of a productive summer coho run.
