The verdict

The M7 Pant takes the same insulated HydraShield Softshell construction as the M7 Jacket and puts it where late-season hunts are won or lost — your legs. The dual 3/4 side zips are the standout: full venting on the climb, sealed warmth on the sit, without removing boots or layers. At 1 lb 6.4 oz they are a dedicated cold-weather pant, not a three-season piece, and that focus is exactly the point.

Listed at $399 (past-season colors have appeared at $299.25) — see Stone Glacier's product page for current pricing

What I love

  • Same waterproof, windproof HydraShield Softshell as the M7 Jacket
  • Fleece interior insulates without a separate layer
  • Dual 3/4 side zippers vent heat instantly
  • Patented Contour Waist System dials in fit over base layers
  • All pockets zippered to keep valuables secure
  • Mechanical stretch for quiet, free movement

Watch out for

  • Too warm for mild-weather or high-output early-season use
  • Past-season availability means limited sizes
  • DWR is made with PFAS chemicals, which some buyers prefer to avoid

Best for

  • Late-season hunts with deep snow and long, cold sits
  • Post-holing and breaking trail where legs take the weather
  • Pairing with the M7 Jacket as a full severe-weather kit

Built for the bitter end of the season

Stone Glacier describes the M7 Pant as an ultra-warm, windproof, breathable shell worn over base or mid-layers in cold and snowy conditions — designed to balance warmth and ventilation so you shed and add layers less often on frigid late-season hunts.

The construction mirrors the M7 Jacket: a polyester face, a waterproof-breathable HydraShield laminate and a fleece interior. Snow stays out, sweat vapor escapes, and the insulation is already there when you stop moving.

Venting and fit

The dual 3/4-length side zippers — Stone Glacier's Stratum Layered Zipper System — are the feature that makes an insulated pant workable. Open them on the climb to dump heat, close them on the ridge to lock warmth in, all without stripping layers.

The patented Contour Waist System replaces a belt with an adjustable, low-bulk fit that sits cleanly under a pack hip belt and over varying base layers. Two zippered thigh pockets keep a phone, tag or wind checker secure.

Verdict

If your season runs into snow and single digits, the M7 Pant is one of the most purpose-built cold-weather hunting pants on the market — warm, quiet, genuinely waterproof and vented well enough to hike in. Pair it with the M7 Jacket for the full kit.
