Why it made the list

The BRS-3000T (often incorrectly listed as BRS-3000S) burst onto the scene as an ultralight marvel, and it remains a popular choice for those truly counting every gram. Weighing in at well under an ounce, it's astonishingly light—you literally forget you have it. This minimalist canister stove is all about pure function: screw it onto a fuel canister, open the valve, and light. It's designed for boiling water in the lightest possible package, making it a favorite among thru-hikers and ultralight enthusiasts who prioritize the lightest possible base weight. Given its featherlight construction, typically titanium for the frame and burner, durability is a concern. While it can hold up to careful use, it’s not designed for abuse; a hard fall or careless packing could easily bend or break a pot support. The heat output for its size is surprisingly good, boiling water efficiently in calm conditions. However, it's extremely susceptible to wind, and even a light breeze will significantly reduce its efficiency and increase boil times. The pot supports are tiny and not very stable, so it's best paired with smaller, lighter pots, and extra care is needed to prevent spills. Simmering is rudimentary at best. For the price and weight, it’s an incredible value, but it comes with clear compromises in durability and cold-weather performance. It's a stove for fair weather and careful users who understand its limitations. ### Highlights * Extremely lightweight (often less than 1 oz), ideal for ultralight backpacking * Incredibly compact, fits anywhere * Very affordable, excellent value for the weight savings * Simple to operate, fast setup * Good heat output in calm conditions for water boiling ### Watch-outs * Very fragile; durability is a major concern * Extremely poor wind resistance, significantly impacts performance * Tiny, unstable pot supports, best for small, lightweight pots * Poor simmering control * Canister-only, limited cold weather performance.
