Weather
Summer canyon temperatures routinely exceed 105°F, and July–September monsoon flash floods have forced evacuations. Winter nights drop below freezing.
What actually decides the trip
- All stays are three nights and four days; there are no single-night reservations.
- The hike is 10 miles to the campground with a punishing climb out — start before dawn.
- Reservations are transferable only through the official site. Third-party resellers are not permitted.
- This is sovereign tribal land: drone use, alcohol, and off-trail travel are prohibited.
