Easy Camping Banana Boats Over the Coals
Prep: 5 min
Cook: 15 min
Serves: 2
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients

  • •2 small to medium-sized bananas
  • •1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • •1/2 cup mini marshmallows
  • •for dipping graham crackers

Equipment

  • • heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • • parchment paper (optional)
  • • metal tongs
  • • fire-resistant gloves

Instructions

  1. 1Layout 3 pieces of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  2. 2Leave the skin on the banana and slice through the banana to the skin on the other side, but not all the way through.
  3. 3Fill the split with chocolate chips, marshmallows, and any other fillings you want.
  4. 4To fold the packets, bring the two longest edges of foil towards each other and roll them together to create a seal. Then, fold in the sides. Repeat the same folding process two more times for a total of three pieces of foil per packet.
  5. 5Move some hot coals from the fire aside and place the banana boats on top of the coals. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, flipping about halfway through. The banana boats are done when the banana becomes soft and the filling is melted.
  6. 6Once done, carefully remove from the heat and open the packets. They will be hot!
  7. 7Top with crushed graham crackers or use whole graham crackers for dipping into the gooey melted banana boats.

Camp tips

  • • You don’t want the bananas to be green, but you don’t want them to be overripe either.
