Ingredients
- •3 to 3 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- •1 teaspoon Active dry yeast
- •1 teaspoon Salt
- •1 1/2 cups Water (70° to 75°)
Equipment
- • Dutch oven
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, whisk together flour, yeast and salt. Stir in water and enough remaining flour to form a moist, shaggy dough. Cover and let rise until doubled, 7 to 8 hours.
- 2Preheat oven to 450°F; place a Dutch oven with lid on center rack and heat for at least 30 minutes. Once Dutch oven is heated, turn out dough onto a floured surface and shape into a round loaf.
- 3Using a sharp knife, make a 1/4-inch deep slash across the top of the loaf. Lower the loaf into the heated Dutch oven and cover; bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake until deep golden brown (15-20 minutes). Cool completely on a wire rack.
