No-Knead Dutch Oven Camping Bread
Prep: 15 min
Cook: 65 min
Serves: 14
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients

  • •4 ¾ cups all purpose flour
  • •2 ½ teaspoons instant yeast
  • •2 teaspoons sea salt
  • •2 cups very warm water
  • •2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • •1 teaspoon olive oil

Equipment

  • • Dutch oven
  • • Large mixing bowl
  • • Dough scraper or spatula
  • • Parchment paper
  • • Wire cooling rack

Instructions

  1. 1In a large bowl, whisk the dry ingredients together until combined. Add warm water, maple syrup, and oil. Stir until well combined and a shaggy dough forms.
  2. 2Cover the dough with greased plastic wrap and let it rise for 2-3 hours in a warm place until it doubles in size.
  3. 3Preheat your Dutch oven at 450°F (230°C) for 30-40 minutes before baking.
  4. 4Flour a surface, pour the risen dough onto it, and fold it over itself a few times to form a tight ball.
  5. 5Place the dough on parchment paper, transfer it to the preheated Dutch oven, cover it, and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  6. 6Let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Camp tips

  • • Use warm water (about 120°F) to speed up the rise time.
  • • Ensure your yeast is fresh before starting.
  • • Preheat the Dutch oven for a minimum of 30 minutes for a better crust.
